Enrolment

The following regulation develop and complement the general framework of the Normativa Academica de los Estudios de Grado y Master de la UPC. With this regulation the body responsible for the master tries to give coherence to the curricular itinerary of the students who initiate these studies to improve their performance.

This regulation will be applicable to all students from the 2017-2018 academic year and will be reviewed by the body responsible for the master in virtue of the academic results.

Enrolment

It is a condition to obtain and submit the degree that gives access to the studies in order to be allowed to enroll in the master's degree program.

The study plan of MBDesign consists of 15 ECTS in compulsory common subject, 30 ECTS in elective subjects of the specialization line and 15 ECTS in the Final Master’s Thesis. (TFM).

According to this structure, there are two modalities to study the master:

  1. With specialty: the student must approve a minimum of 20 ECTS of compulsory elective subject of a specialty line, 5 ECTS elective in the same specialty and 5 ECTS, up to a maximum of 30 ECTS of this same line or another.
  2. Possibility to study the master with dual specialization defined at the beginning of the studies. In this case, the student must approve a minimum of 40 ECTS of compulsory elective subject of both specialization line, a minimum of 10 ECTS of elective of this line of specialization (5 ECTS of each line) and 10 ECTS elective until completing 60 ETCS of this same line of specialization or others.

The student has to indicate his/her option in the moment of the master’s pre-enrollment and before the enrollment, that in all the cases will be made annually. It means at the beginning of each academic year the student will enroll all the subjects that would take in the first and second semester of the course. The school will open a specific period where the student can modify his/her second semester enrollment before the beginning of the classes. Students who have chosen dual specialization, may for a single time, during that same period, request to take another line of specialization or to go on to do a line of specialty. These cases will be solved by the academic committee of the master that will take into consideration the report of the author of the student. In no case, it will be possible to choose to take dual specialization once enrolled and studied the TFM.

The student will be able to enroll the master for full or partial dedication. In each case, the enrollment must complete the following itinerary:

1. FULL-TIME STUDENTS

First term

  1. 15 ECTS of the common phase
  2. 15 ECTS of the specialty line (or, depending on the academic offer of the course, 10 ECTS of the specialty and 5 ECTS elective to choose from any other line).

Second term

  1. 15 ECTS of the specialty line (or, depending on the academic offer of the academic year, 10 ECTS of the specialty and 5 ECTS elective to choose from any other line).
  2. 15 ECTS of the TFM or 15 ECTS of the second line of specialization for the students with dual specialization.

Third and fourth term (only for students taking double specialisation)

  1. 15 ECTS of the second specialisation line (or, depending on the academic offer to the academic year, 10 ECTS of the specialisation and 5 ECTS of elective subjects chosen of any other line).
  2. 15 ECTS of TFM (in this case, according to both two specialisation lines taken)

The student that is taking the dual specialization can modify this itinerary if, for the academic offer of the subjects in a specific course, and to avoid overlaps of schedule, it is recommendable to take the specializations, not consecutively but simultaneously, in 3 semesters if possible or extend it up to 4 semesters. In this case, the enrollment of the student must be previously authorized or validated later by the academics responsible.

2. PART-TIME STUDENTS

This master can be taken in a partial time with a minimum of 15 ECTS per semester. In any case, the enrollment must include the compulsory common subjects of the first semester and cannot include the TFM if the results show that still having credits of the master pending of approval.
