Next Tuesday, 3 February, from 10:00 a.m., the Joan Salvadó Auditorium at the Terrassa School of Optics and Optometry (FOOT) will host a joint event that this year brings together, on the same day and in the same venue, the Welcome Session for the University Master’s Degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences, the FOOT Research Day, and the Research Day of the Department of Optics and Optometry (DOO).

Once again, the UPC Faculty of Optics and Optometry leads the ranking in Optics and Optometry studies.

The UPC has opened registrations for the 4th UPC Virtual Postgraduate Fair.

Defense of the Research Plans of the Doctoral Program in Optical Engineering - February 2026

Fátima Cuellar Santiago will defend a doctoral thesis with an international mention, focused on the optical and visual characterization of intraocular lenses for the correction of presbyopia. The research analyzes the performance of different lens designs under controlled laboratory and clinical conditions, with the aim of improving the understanding of their visual performance prior to implantation. Defense: February 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Joan Salvadó Auditorium and via Google Meet.

Manel Larrosa Expósito will defend a doctoral thesis focused on the clinical and morphological evaluation of a new design of large-diameter rigid corneal contact lens for the visual compensation of keratoconus. The work analyzes the structural feasibility of the design, its efficacy and clinical safety, as well as the optimization of the personalized fitting process.
